Are you a Victim of Violence?

  • Do you feel like you're walking on eggshells to keep the peace?
  • Do you feel like a prisoner in your own home?
  • Does your spouse call you names or verbally threaten you?
  • Is your spouse violent with your children, pets or property?
  • Does your spouse humiliate you through actions or words privately or in public?
  • Do you feel powerless to make your own choices, have your own opinion or
come and go as you please?
Victims of these crimes live in the houses, condominiums and apartments of our communities, and on the farms and
ranches of our country sides.  They attend our schools, work in our offices, are stationed on our military installations,
work in our factories and stores, walk our streets, play in our parks, shop in our markets, eat in our restaurants,
attend our churches, temples, synagogues and mosques. They lie in our hospitals and in our cementeries.
Victims and their families struggle with the issues of forgiveness.

Often times they find that their minds and hearts are not in sync. The events of their victimization are too horrific.
Forgiveness is a process, a journey, and a personal path through pain, anger, confusion, rage and disbelief.  The
journey may take a lifetime and may never be completed.  Upon occasion the victim may feel that forgiveness may
never be humanly appropriate.

It is our responsibility as citizens and our moral obligation as Cathnolics to be prepared to guide our brothers and
sisters, who have fell victims of crime, violence and abuse, through the  path of healing, restoration and restoring
grace.
